Checking Out the Farmers Markets

We visited two local farmers markets today. Though both offered essentially the same product, the difference in the feel and sense of community at one was remarkable. How to explain that difference? In a word, it was hospitality. Vendors were friendly, happy, talkative. More shoppers at one meant that we almost rubbed elbows, and with that came a sense of being part of something bigger than just shopping. In that one, we wanted to linger and talk. In the other you couldn't get away fast enough.

Could our church learn something here?
