Former captains of Sri Lanka Cricket team, Hashan Tillakaratne and Arjuna Ranatunga have claimed that the match-fixing is a common phenomenon in Sri Lankan Cricket since 1992. Tillakaratne retorted to the allegations imposed on him with the vows to expose full details of the match-fixing that he alleges occurred in his career.

The 43-year old stated he got several crank and even death threats after he came out with match fixing allegations. However, he expressed his determination to expose people involved in filthy match gambling.

When interrogated on his detachment with ICC's anti-corruption unit, Tillakaratne responded “I will do that in the days to come." The former captain added that he would provide the relevant information” at the appropriate time."

Although, the duo has been questioned by the Sri Lanka Cricket Board that why they have emerged after long time and to substantiate their claims. Tillakarante responded that he made a statement to the provincial council and stick to his position on the allegations.

In past decade many famous players including South Africa’s Hansie Cronje, India's Mohammad Azharuddin and Ajay Jadeja, and Pakistan's Salim Malik had been alleged for match fixing and sentenced to ban by their respective cricket boards.

In recent times Pakistani players Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir were interdicted for five years after being found guilty of corruption.
