TAIWAN NEWS – Taiwan normal life has been disturbed greatly by a powerful typhoon named ‘Fanapi’, alarming people and forced to close schools and offices.
The typhoon with a speed of 198km/h (123mph) swept away near the east-coast city of Hualien, resulting heavy rain and fierce wind in the region.
The Central Weather Bureau has warned of landslides in mountainous areas and advised people to postpone trips to mountains. Last year typhoon Morakot had claimed more than 700 people and thousands left homeless by flashfloods and mudslides.
Fanapi is considered a category three typhoon is about to react south-east of mainland China later Sunday or Monday morning.
There are branches and trees ripped off in Hualien and a lorry overturned, though no casualties are yet to be reported. The capital also witnessed the wrath of torrential rain and violent winds. The city of Kaohsiung also was affected by the typhoon.
The transport services are greatly affected where flights and trains have been canceled. Taiwan defense forces are ready for any emergency.
