So far richest candidate is Deepak Bhardwaj of BSP
INDIAN ELECTION NEWS: So far the richest candidate for the ongoing Lok Sabha elections is from the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). Deepak Bhardwaj filed his nominations papers from the West Delhi constituency and declared assets worth Rs 600 crore.
Deepak Bhardwaj belongs to Mayawati's party and he came on a tractor to the Rampura election office in West Delhi to file his nomination.
Bhardwaj is 58-year-old and owns businesses in real estate, hotels and also education. In Dwarka he runs a school and has plans to open 2 more schools in Dwarka and Dhansa. Both the places are in West Delhi.
Bhardwaj is a resident of Lajwanti Garden in West Delhi and owns a township project called Deepganga in Hardwar. He has a hotel on the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway called Niteshpunj Hotel Complex.
The previous richest candidate declared assets worth Rs 514 crore. He is a Mumbai-based businessman and has filed his nomination as an Independent from Surendranagar. 53-years-old Khimji Patadia has declared assets worth Rs 514 crore. His assets are mainly in jewellery and real estate.
The other in rich series are Congress’s L Rajagopal from Vijaywada (Rs 299 crore), BSP’s Karan Singh Tanwar from South Delhi (Rs 150 crore) and SP’s Abu Azmi from Mumbai NW (Rs 122 crore).
