Happy Thanksgiving!

As the Hebrew people gave thanks at the festival of the first fruits,
as the Psalmist gave thanks in songs of praise,
as Paul gave thanks even while in prison,
as Jesus gave thanks when he fed the people with real bread and with the bread of life,
as people down through the ages have given their thanks,
so we, too, give our thanks to you, God of all creation.

(individuals around the table say: “I thank God for...”)

Loving God, we thank you for your love and care for each one of us.
We know that the best way to show our thanks is to share what you have given to us.
May our thanksgivings today remind us that giving our thanks means living our thanks.
Give us the love and compassion of Jesus, that we might give as he did.
Amen.
