Gagan Narang Shoots Gold Again: Indian Shooters On Gold Spree

India NEWS - Gagan Narang, the record holder, shot his fourth straight gold medal at the Commonwealth Games on Saturday.

Gagan Shot gold in the individual 50m Air Rifle 3 position event to present India 22nd gold and 12th from shooting alone. In 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games India won 16 gold in shooting.

India continue the gold rush in Commonwealth Games. Earlier national champion Gagan Narang defeated own country mate Abhinav Bindra who won the first Olympic gold medal for India. Narang edged Bindra in the event -10 m air rifles (Singles) - to clinched the gold medal. Moreover, it is a Commonwealth Games record where Narang broke earlier record, scoring 103.6.

On the other hand, the women shooters also head to head to with their counterpart as Anisa Sayyed won the gold while Rahi Sarnobat shot the silver medal. The Indian team has also won a silver in the double trap event, raising a competition for all teams. Another shooter Omkar Singh won a gold.

India has clinched a gold in the pairs competition of the same event on Day 2. The close competition between Narang and Bindra gave a wonderful display at Dr. Karni Singh ranges. The close scores between two Indian shooters showed an indication the rivalry would continue in future.

Meanwhile in the another sport lifter Reny Bala Chanu (58 kg women) broke the record, lifting weight of 107 Kgs in her category to win the gold. Lifter Ravi Kumar (69 kg men) is also hopeful to win a medal for the country.
