Islamabad – Protesting the remarks of British Prime Minister David Cameron of allegedly linking the intelligence agency of Pakistan ISI with the militant groups, ISI canceled the ongoing trip to UK. The remark invited a strong criticism from many nations and Islamabad stormed by comments from many sides.
ISI spokesman told to reporters that senior intelligence officials, including ISI head Lieutenant General Ahmad Shuja Pasha would not attend the counter terrorism talks in London. However, President Asif Ali Zardari will go to London next week as planned.
Mr. Cameron on Wednesday, during his visit to India, commented about base of militants in Pakistan and alleged the nation of promoting the export of terror across the world.
Pakistan foreign minister’s spokesman said the remark of UK Prime Minister was painful and the country “saddened” by the remark. Pakistan is the key ally of US to stabilize the Afghanistan position.
Earlier, secretary of US Hilary Clinton said that she believed that some of the leaders of al Qaida were still take shelter in Pakistan and some Pakistan official knew where they were hiding.
The remark angered the Pakistani officials and recent comment by Mr. Cameron further insult to the injury. It is noted that Pakistan has launched a largescale military operation its provinces bordering Afghanistan. The ISI said that Pakistan has lost 2,500 soldiers and more than 4000 wounded since the US-led war on Afghanistan in 2001.
