AFGHANISTAN NEWS – At least 11 people were killed in the eastern Afghanistan at the city of Khost when a suicide car bomber suddenly attacked a police checkpoint in a crowded area of the city.

The attack was principally targeted a police checkpoint, which failed but killed 11 people and left many wounded because it was located in a crowded area.

It is reported that police became wary when a car was approaching to them and opened fire on the driver. Eventually the driver who was armed with bombs blew himself up. The city is already restless because of continuous attack by Taliban militants.

Afghan police has reported that nine civilians, three of them women and two policemen had been killed in the attack. There are many injured and no official report is given so far.

Reports said the blast sent a thick plume of black smoke into the air.
