Clean chit for Jagdish Tytler in 1984 anti-Sikh riots by CBI

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today clears Jagdish Tytler in 1984 anti-Sikh riots case. Jagdish Tytler is a Congress leader and former Union minister. A case was registered against Jagdish Tytler for the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

Today the CBI in a court in Delhi pleaded that the case against Jagdish Tytler be cancelled. The court in the capital of India put the report for consideration on April 9.

There were protests outside the court premises by hundreds of Sikhs as the CBI decision was made public on Friday. The gathered Sikhs raised slogans against the Congress government, the CBI, Jagdish Tytler and also against other senior Congress leaders like Sajjan Kumar and Kamal Nath for their alleged involvement in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

Counsel for the ‘84 anti-Sikh riots' victims H S Phoolka accused CBI of being "hand in glove with Tytler." He said that there may be serious flaws in their report and that is the reason why the CBI does not want the report to be shown.

The counsel also alleged that Tytler was aware of the report of CBI much before the final report was laid down before the court.
