Blessing of Animals -- Sunday, June 5, 10 AM

Sunday, June 5, in worship at 10 AM, the Presbyterian Church of Mount Kisco will host its first "Blessing of Animals," a service to celebrate the blessing that animals bring into our lives. We invite all companion animals to join us in worship thank to God for the gifts they give us, and to re-dedicate ourselves to care for them and all God's creatures. Cats will sit on one side, with dogs, birds and fish on the other. (No pets in the balcony, please.)

Scriptures will include God's covenants with all creatures, including Gen. 9:12-16, Ho. 2:18, and Rom. 8:21. Interim Pastor Jack Lohr says, "For most of us, pets bring a blessing of love and a special connection that enhances life. We thank God for their unconditional love and celebrate animals' gifts to us."

In this blessing of animals the church shares the joy of companion animals who come for blessing and also memorializes deceased pets. All are welcome! For more information call 914-666-7001 or go to pcmk.org.

Blessed are you, Lord God, maker of all living creatures. You called forth fish in the sea, birds in the air and animals on the land. You inspired St. Francis to call all of them his brothers and sisters. We ask you to bless this pet. By the power of your love, enable it to live according to your plan. May we always praise you for all your beauty in creation. Blessed are you, Lord our God, in all your creatures! Amen.
