You might think it gets erased when you take down, or change, something you post to Facebook. But it ain't necessarily so.
A decade ago, I submitted a picture of my refrigerator magnet image of "Jesus in His Yoga Posture," to http://www.jesusoftheweek.com/ along with a link to our church website. The editor of the site consulted our pages and created a slightly ironic commentary. When one of the elders was accosted by an evangelical co-worker to ask what sort of pastor she was following, the elder came to session and demanded to know how this had happened. After a lengthy explanation and disavowal of responsibility, I promised session to ask for a change. I persuaded the editor of "JesusoftheWeek" to remove any reference to our church.
If you go to the website (click here) today, you'll find no mention of me or the church I was serving. But if you click the image above, you'll discover that the original is still out there...
So if you hope to find a job someday, be careful what you post!
