Our prayers are with our member Ruth Fenton and her family as they grieve the death of her husband Dick. Services will be Friday evening in Tarrytown. Rev. Richard L. Fenton M.D., a longtime resident of the Tarrytowns died on October 5, 2010. He was 88. He was born on May 3, 1922 to Harry and Rae Blum Finkelstein in New York City. He graduated from The Franklin School, NYC 1939, Columbia College, BA 1943. and Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons, MD in 1946. He had a private practice as an Orthopedic Surgeon in Tarrytown for many years. He married Ruth E. Nussbaumer in 1946. He served as President of the Phelps Memorial Hospital Medical Board from 1976-1979. He also had served as President of the Westchester County Medical Society as well as being a member of the State Medical Society. In addition he belonged to the AMA, American College of Orthopedic Surgeons, American College of Surgeons, and Mount Kisco Presbyterian Church. He was a veteran of the Korean War where he served as an Army Captain in Fort Bragg, NC and was also the Chief of Orthopedics. He is survived by his wife Ruth of Sleepy Hollow, his Children: Richard D. Fenton (Fran), Cathy Ruf (Paul), and Carol McHale (Ken) He is also survived by his Grandchildren: Jason Fenton, Kristen Ruf, Christopher Fenton, and Rachel Mc Hale as well as hhis great grandson Noah Fenton. Visitation will be held on Friday from 7-9 PM at COFFEY FUNEREAL HOME INC. in Tarrytown where religious services will be held at 8 PM that evenng. His interment will be private.
