I met last night with Hugh Sigmon, Rady Bauer, Barbara Esau, and Allan Morjikian plus Karen Seduski (via phone). We agreed to the following proposals regarding a Mission Study process:
1. Work toward healing from hurts of past conflicts:
a. Ask Presbytery's Conflict Mediation Team to lead "Healthy Congregations" workshop.
b. I preach on conflict and congregation practices strategies for reconciliation.
c. I do individual mediation with those willing to work in this process.
2. Engage in a multi-pronged approach to gathering information for the Mission Study
a. Select a representative group to conduct and write the Mission Study
b. Do U.S. Congregational Life Survey during worship (see http://www.uscongregations.org for more info) Cost: $250, plus $1 per survey ordered)
c. Share results in an after-church meeting in January
d. Use "Holy Conversations" model for small-group "visioning meetings" to follow up http://www.holyconversations.org/
e. Gather demographic information from "Percept" http://link2lead.com
f. Write the report
