Karen Kavey, the member here at PCMK who leads our "Blue Book" ministry, alerted me to this video.
It's a potentially life-saving message to any young person who for any reason might be ready to give up on life: "IT GETS BETTER."
I hope you have time and tears to view it.
The video is apparently part of an internet/YouTube campaign--a series of videos by gay adults, reaching out to LGBT teens to help them try to hold on a little longer (not kill themselves).
Things will get better (once the teens can get out of school, perhaps away from bullying, from rejecting families, churches, etc.) These are not traditional "speeches".
The video above is a particularly moving one; the speaker, Joel Burns, chose to tell kids "it gets better" at the Fort Worth City Council meeting where he is a member. He spoke during his designated time to speak about another matter. His remarks are being widely circulated now.
He has a successful life now; is married and the family is repaired.
If you can't see the embedded video, and you're interested: just go to YouTube and type in "it gets better Joel Burns"
Love, Jack Lohr, Interim Pastor
