Jim Poinsett Day

One of Mount Kisco's greatest natural resources is the strength of its people, a strength measured in community pride and commitment that has enabled the village and its people to prosper and grow. .

Whereas, the Reverend James K. Poinsett, a graduate of Yale Divinity School, came from the Bedford Presbyterian Church to serve as the Associate Pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Mount Kisco; and

Whereas he has nurtured the faith of our youth during the course of his ministry and has fostered the mission of the Presbyterian Church to the Mount Kisco community by participating in the Emergency Shelter Partnership, the Mount Kisco Food Pantry and the Mount Kisco Sales Days; and

Whereas he has broadened the world vision of our community by his mission trip to Nicaragua; and

Whereas, he has ministered to the faith community of the Presbyterian Church of Mount Kisco with grace, sensitivity and compassion during a time of major transition while experiencing deep personal loss;

Now, therefore, in recognition of the achievements and contributions of the Reverend James K. Poinsett let it be resolved that September 19, 2010 be known as the Reverend James K. Poinsett Day in the village of Mount Kisco.
