4/16/09 UPDATE
Tonight while having dinner with friends, one said, 'We need to pray for Lenny. He's missing.' So before we ate, we prayed and within a few minutes, we realized the cyclist in the accident was Lenny Coleman, our friend and neighbor!
Please keep Lenny in your prayers as he is in ICU at Memorial Hospital.
ORIGINAL POST
Around 7:15, the loud noise of a helicopter flew overhead and landed at the corner of 5th Street West and Leveroni Drive here in Sonoma.
When I called the local Sheriff (707-565-2121), they said it was an accident between a car and a bicyclist.
On the CHP (California Highway Patrol) website, I found this:

4/20/09 UPDATE
FINALLY, the Sonoma Index Tribune is reporting on this story.
Lenny, by the way, is still in critical care at Memorial with several broken bones. Thank you in advance for praying for him.
Did I mention that no one called his home phone where his domestic partner lives and she didn't know where he was for over 24 hours? It wasn't until after a few of us connected the dots, call Memorial and told her. When she and I went in, the nurse showed us that they did have the correct phone number in his paperwork, so why didn't someone call?

A bicyclist was airlifted to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital after being injured Wednesday, April 15, in a collision with a vehicle.
The accident occurred at about 7:05 p.m. on Leveroni and Fifth Street West. According to Jaret Paulson, public information officer with the Napa California Highway Patrol office, the motorist, Joan Brady, 69, of Sonoma, was westbound on Leveroni, while the bicyclist, Cecil Coleman was making a left-hand turn onto Fifth Street West when the collision occurred.
Paulson said Coleman apparently failed to yield to oncoming traffic and traveled into the path of the motorist. Coleman was airlifted to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital by the CHP helicopter. Paulson didn't have any information on Coleman's status.
Paulson said the investigation is ongoing, and the CHP is investigating the sobriety of the injured bicyclist.
No citations have been issued.
